The International Retrovirology Association was founded in 1995 to promote communication, interaction and collaboration among scientists studying complex retroviruses. The Association’s commitment to education involves providing information to individuals infected with these viruses and facilitating the training of young scientists in this field. A primary objective of the Association is the planning and organization of a recurring meeting of scientists from around the world who are working on various aspects of complex retroviruses. Fundraising is also an essential component of the Association in order to support these research and education programs.
